Just say no

So...yesterday Trent and I went on our first date in 6 months. My friend Alicia who is Caitlin's friend Ella's mom watched Caitlin while Trent and I went out. Next Friday, we will return the favor. After we ate we went and wandered around a close by mall. There was a Journeys shoe store in the mall, and as we passed, something caught my eye. Leopard print Chucks. I love leopard print and I love Chucks and the two together? Freaking awesome. So I tried some on. After a little discussion with myself and Trent, I decided not to get them. Caitlin needs summer clothes and so do I and Trent  needs new shoes more than I do. We also need vegetables for our garden and money in our savings account. Let them eat cupcakes!

Did you know Marie Antoinette never said "Let them eat cake?" The French people hated her so much they said she said that just to make her look bad. RUDE. Anyway, in the Deseret Book catalog and on BYUTV, they have been advertising this cookbook called "Your cup of cake." Being a cupcake connoisseur, I went to check out this cookbook. I found it online for only $17. However, I would have to pay shipping and there is a Deseret Book store literally 5 minutes away. So Monday, I will be going to buy this cookbook. It literally has EVERY cupcake recipe she's made. And let me tell you, they look delicious. Every. Single. One. I decided to make this fun and make every cupcake in the book and review it on here. While I don't have the book yet, I did find two simply irresistible ones that I am dying to try, so I will not be waiting for the cookbook to make them. They are: Coconut Nutella cupcakes and Strawberry Pina Colada cupcakes. I will make them and let you know. I'm sure we will devour them. And we will do what Marie Antoinette didn't really say "Let them eat cake!"

Caitlin dances

I enrolled Caitlin in ballet at a studio called Expressions Dance in Bountiful. If you live close to Bountiful like we do, sign up for classes here:

They also do Zumba, but I am not coordinated enough. Plus, I can do my workouts at home for free. Anyway, she LOVES it. She talks about three things all week long: church, her friend Ella, amd ballet. The first week we went she was a little stinker and basically didn't do anything she was supposed to. This week? She did much better. They are practicing for their recital at the "end of the year" before summer break and she loves it. Mom? Dad? I heard we are getting 5 tickets so if you want to come out we do have a room for you now. ^_^ Here's a picture I took of her this morning in her ballet stuff. Minus the shoes. As you can see, she is very excited about going.

Dear MSNBC

Today on Glenn Beck's new site The Blaze, I saw this article:

So now, I would like to write a little letter to MSNBC:

Dear MSNBC,

First of all you guys are a joke. Seriously.  Second of all, where do you come off?! My children belong to my husband and ME. GOT IT?! Did you give birth to them? No. Do you pay their bills? No. Do you comfort them when they are sick or hurt? No. Do you buy them clothes? No. Do you teach them rules and manners? No, and I'm pretty sure your children have little if not none of either. Do you make their meals? I didn't think so. As long as they are alive and kicking and screaming, these children are mine. They do not belong to a collective group. No one else is responsible for them. And, when they are old enough, they will be responsible for themselves. Not you, or the government that you are in cahoots with. So I'm going to say this one time to you and anyone else who thinks this way...STAY AWAY FROM MY CHILDREN!

Rest in peace

Margaret Thatcher, the Iron Lady has died. This woman was amazing. She and Ronald Reagan are two of my heroes. Side by side, they fought for freedom and against Communism. Now, on the other side of the veil, I hope they will continue to fight side by side for freedom and that there is a place for them with God. Rest in peace Iron Lady. And thank you.

Sunday means confessing

Confession time! I decided to do it again!

1. I picked WSU to beat GONZAGA last night. Gonzaga's schedule was not that great this year. I mean really? Whoever picked them to win it all doesn't know much about them or basketball.

2. I'm so ready for summer. I have some adorable pants calling my name. And I can't wear them because it's really cold outside. And still snowing.

3. This week, I wanted to move back to Kansas. I miss my friends, my doctors, my dentist...the list goes on. You name it, I probably missed it.

4. I need my mom to come organize my house. Seriously. It needs help.

So this week has not been the best. I'm tired and stressed out. Frankly, I need a vacation. My patience has been very thin the last two days and I've been pretty grumpy. I was a little short with Caitlin this morning and when I sat down to play with her I put her on my lap and hugged her and told her I was sorry and we played and had fun together. I put her down for a nap and got my phone out and got on Instagram. I follow Stephanie Nielson on there and she had posted a picture of a poem she has hanging in her bedroom. It was the answer to my prayers today and what I needed to see. It says:

Oh, give me patience when wee hands
Tug at me with their small demands
And give me gentle and smiling eyes
Keep my lips from hasty replies

Potty training: Day 1

Well, I would call this day a success. I decided to bite the bullet and potty train Caitlin. It went wonderfully! She only had two accidents all day AND she stayed dry at nap time. Thanks to my mom, who told me how to do it. I'm hoping for less or no accidents tomorrow. I can feel freedom calling my name.

1. I actually LIKE living in Utah. It really hasn't been that bad. I've run into a couple things which were typical Utah but it's been good so far.

2. I would REALLY like to live in France. If they change their government to one that suits my taste, I will be their newest citizen.

3. I HATE shopping. I would rather shop online. Once they figure that out for groceries, I will be set.

4. I think the only person that reads my blog is my mom. Seriously.

It was 61degrees today. And very windy. But, being from Kansas, we braved the wind and put our jackets on and strolled to the park. We had fun. Caitlin loves the slides.

Caitlin's birthday

Caitlin turned two. I can't believe it. We had a good time. We went to the Jazz game on Monday. They lost to the Celtics. It was cool to see Paul Pierce play. I've been a fan of him since he was at KU. Grandma Giles took us to dinner on Tuesday at The Pizza Factory and then she came over and had cake and presents with us.

So I fell down the stairs...

Yep. I did. It's hard to walk down the stairs at 6 A.M when you're barely awake and no lights are on.

Ok so this may be cool to no one but me but, I actually got up on time today. Yep. I did. I'm pretty excited about it too. I got my workout done and now I'm just waiting for my thyroid medicine so I can eat. Why does thyroid medicine take so long? I have to wait 30 minutes after I take it to eat,and by the time I can eat, the medicine has made me so hungry I could eat a Hippo. Seriously. Today is going to be exciting. Playing with Caitlin and the dog, making a yummy dinner, and my Origins stuff is coming today! I ordered it a week ago and I've been watching for the package every day. I LOVE their products. This week is going to be awesome. We are going to the Jazz basketball game tomorrow and Valentine's Day is Thursday! What are you doing for Valentine's Day? I'm hoping Trent surprises me. ^_^

Today was a good day

Today did not start out great. I woke up grumpy. I wanted to stay in bed all day. But then I read Stephanie Nielson's blog post from this morning and decided to get up and do my best to make today a good day. It was a good day. Even though I didn't get in the shower until almost 3 this afternoon because I was so busy. But I cleaned my house, got dinner in the crock pot, played with Caitlin, and got my workout in before I showered so I call that a productive morning. I went and got Caitlin her last box of diapers. After this box is gone it will be time to potty train. What...have I done? We played in the snow today. There's at least 4 feet of it in our yard. It was fun. Trent and Caitlin made a huge snowman. I made cookies for our neighbors to thank them for watching our house while we were in Kansas. Their grandson who lives with them helped Trent shovel the driveway the other day so I made him some too. It's been a good day, my feet hurt and I'm tired but it was worth it.

Home sweet home...maybe...

We are home. We got home last night around 12:00 AM. I'm exhausted. My house is a mess. I don't want to cook dinner. Trent got some Pizza Hut gift cards for Christmas. I may have him use one. I'll cook tomorrow. I swear. Maybe...
